There’s been a new rank added to the guild, that of Survivor. It will be at the very bottom of the rank structure and will have no vault withdrawal privileges.
When the vault was first opened and the new guild ranks created, most officers favored a bottom rank that could not withdrawal from the vault. Based on my trust in our membership and a desire for an ‘open, inviting’ feel, I opted to allow the lowest rank (then Harbinger) minimal withdrawal privileges. Plus, at the time, our membership was pretty low-level and there wasn’t lots of higher-level ‘neat stuff’ creating temptation for possible ‘light fingered’ activity (selling vault goods in the auction house or transferring them to non-guild characters).
Our guild has since changed. We have twice the membership as when the vault first opened, with more characters in the 50-70 range depositing more ‘neat stuff.’ The decision to create this new rank resulted from recent, apparent abuse of the vault. I do want to trust our new and old guild mates with vault access, but we have a membership kind enough to deposit valuable items for others to use, and that requires a form of ‘vault integrity’ that reduces the possibility of abuse.
I hope this arrangement is temporary; the officers will continue to discuss possibilities in managing the vault. If you have any thoughts on this, please feel free to let me know. This is as much your guild as anyone’s.
