It’s the Midsummer Fire Festival!

I’ve barely done much of the stuff you can do during this annual event, but it just started yesterday (6/21) and will be going until July 4th so there’s plenty of time to get in on the fun!

Last night five of us got together to go ‘bonfire hopping;’ Strago, Khaskassia, Aedari, Talyra’s alt, Saphira, and me. See, every major Alliance settlement (one each in most zones; there’s a list here) has a Fire Warden in charge of the local celebration bonfire, and we went from place to place visiting bonfires. Why? Go to each one and ‘Honor the Flames.’ You’ll be rewarded with experience points; I got 3900 per visit at level 54, about 2.7% of the XPs I needed for my next level. After a dozen visits I received 46,800 points, enough to finish the last third of what I needed to reach 55! You’ll also get ‘Burning Blossoms’ at each visit that can be traded for nifty seasonal stuff.

There’s also a dancing pole at each one, and doing the dance will get you a buff that adds 10% XP against monsters. You can see four of us taking part here!

Of course, you can also get XPs for ‘desecrating’ Horde bonfires. If there are only NPCs around you won’t be bothered. But be wary of any actual horde players nearby.

Something else you can do…learn torch juggling at the celebration tents in each major city. Ask Strago about this; he’s the expert! Me, I can’t get the hang of it….

Then of course there are the obligatory quests.

I’ve barely scratched the surface and I’ll update (or you can!) when I find something interesting and new. Until then you can visit the official WoW festival page here.
